Welcome to Thornbury bowls club

We’re one of Thornbury (nay the inner north’s) favourite spots. As a sporting club we play lawn bowls, but as a venue we host everything from DJs to bingo, as well as some of the biggest gigs in the inner north.

We also host special events like weddings, birthdays, Christmas parties and other major celebrations. Did we mention we have some of the cheapest pints in Melbourne? All locally sourced craft brews on tap, a separate signature cocktail menu and a range of non-alcoholic options so everyone can enjoy our club. As a Not-for-Profit club we’re here for the Thornbury community.

Welcome to the Club

With a history going back over 100 years, Thornbury Bowling Club combines tradition, vintage and modern — with the cheapest pints in the heart of Thornbury.

We welcome social groups, events, work functions and anyone who just wants to enjoy a summer afternoon at our bowls club.

Our members offer a friendly welcome to both new and experienced bowlers, from barefoot bowling through to our pennant competition between September and March.

We have a synthetic upper green suitable for year round bowling, and our Tifdwarf Bermuda grass lower green.

 To add to the ambience, we also have a large deck, seating adjacent to our lower green together and barbecues available for hire.

The clubhouse has catering facilities, dining area, lounge area and a well stocked bar for our bowling members, social members, visiting bowlers, spectators and guests.
